White Cliffs Opal Fields

We head off today on the Barrier Hwy named by a famous explorer Captain Charles Sturt.  Driving through undulating hills, Mulga, River Red Gums and Salt Bush country.

We will stop along the way for a short morning tea break then continue our way passing a variety of sheep, goats and sometimes even spotting a Kangaroo or Emu.

On arrival to White Cliffs we will be treated to a lovely light lunch and drink at the local corner store.

After lunch we will visit some local miners and their galleries. There is also an opportunity to do a Dugout Tour when available. Now we head over to the opal mining fields for an Underground Tour with a local miner and hear the fascinating stories of mining and history in White Cliffs.
